Retail and wholesale drug licences are issued by the state drug control authority under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act. A pharmacy, distributor or online seller cannot trade in medicines without one, and the premises and pharmacist requirements are inspected.

Common questions

Do I need a pharmacist?

A retail licence needs a registered pharmacist on the premises during business hours. A wholesale licence needs a competent person with the prescribed experience.
