AD Code and ICEGATE Registration

The two registrations that turn an IEC into a working export account.

An IEC alone does not let goods clear customs. Your bank issues a 14-digit Authorised Dealer code that has to be registered against each port you ship from, and your business needs an ICEGATE account to file shipping bills and receive duty-drawback and RoDTEP credits. Both are done online now, and both are the usual reason a first shipment sits at the port.

What is included

  • AD code letter coordination with your bank
  • Port-wise AD code registration on ICEGATE
  • ICEGATE user registration and DSC linking
  • Bank account registration for drawback and RoDTEP credit

What we will need from you

  • IEC certificate
  • AD code letter from the bank on its letterhead
  • GST certificate and PAN
  • Class 3 DSC of the authorised signatory
  • Cancelled cheque

How long it takes

Typically 3–7 working days once the bank has issued the AD code letter.

Timelines are typical, not guaranteed. Government processing times vary, and a query from the officer adds to them. We will tell you where yours stands.

Common questions

Is one AD code enough?

One code, but it has to be registered at every port or ICD you ship through.

Do service exporters need this?

No. AD code registration is for goods clearing customs; service exporters need the IEC and a GST LUT instead.
